Defending the Christian faith against the civil religion of Progressivism:
The current cultural, political and economic crisis, which has assumed global proportions, cannot be properly understood if its religious element, by far the most important and influential, is overlooked. The danger is that while religion plays a central role in this drama, it appears in the guise of a health and economic crisis. While there are certainly various components that would need to be considered in a rational analysis of the destructive currents in Western civilization, it is undeniable that the spiritual aspect holds them all together and gives them meaning and direction.
The question is how to identify the religious element and what its purpose is. The answers are obvious: 1) belief in progress and 2) world federation. In the coming weeks, the Court Jester will provide further evidence that these answers are correct. However, there is another question that must be asked: What is the solution to the crisis? Again, from a Christian perspective, the answer could not be clearer: the Gospel.
Anyone who knows the basic message of the Gospel knows that human wisdom is in absolute opposition to divine wisdom. Therefore, it is imperative that we live our lives in accordance with biblical truth. In theory, we know that we must rely on God, not ourselves, in all circumstances. Unfortunately, we often forget this spiritual lesson when difficulties arise.
What is the remedy?
It can be nothing other than a deeper understanding of who God is and what Christ accomplished on the cross.
When we know the gospel better, we cannot help but be actively involved in proclaiming "Christ crucified" to those around us. As we do this, some will consider us fools, while others will realize that the wisdom of the world is foolishness in the eyes of God. True wisdom can only be found in the Bible.
